Foundation stone laid for the Sea Water Desalination Plant at Nemmeli, Kanchipuram District.

New Tamil Nadu Assembly Complex.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the New Tamil Nadu assembly complex in Chennai. Tamil Nadu assembly complex is a state-of-the-art green architecture in the heart of Chennai, New Secretariat Building built at a cost of Rs 450 crore, it is the first State Assembly building in the world to be designed and constructed as a green building.

New Government Medical college Hospital Inaugurated at Villupuram.
Government Medical college Hospital with 500-bed built at a cost of Rs.54.41 crore, at Mundiampakkam Villupuram Inaugurated.


Murasoli Maran Perambur flyover Inaugurated.
Perambur flyover built at a cost of Rs.51-crore was Inaugurated, and it was named after former Union Minister Murasoli Maran. 12 Year long dream came true for North Chennai People. Since construction work of the perambur flyover began in 1999.

Renault-Nissan Alliance Plant Inaugurated in Chennai.

Plant an investment of 45 billion Rupees ($990 million) and with the capacity to produce 400,000 units per year at full ramp up, the new Chennai plant will initially employ 1,500 workers at start of production in May 2010. With a supplier park of six companies in Chennai, the company estimates a total of 6,000 jobs will be created in the region.

The first vehicle produced at the plant was new Nissan Micra, a global sub-compact.
