Market trend of Android smartphone in India

Android growth is in rapid swing in India. According to the IDC’s(International Data Corporation) India Quarterly Mobile Handsets Tracker, 3Q 2010, Android share in Indian smartphone market rose to 9 percent, up from 2.9 per cent in 3Q 2009. That is a significant growth in last one year.

The number of available Android smartphones also increased to 19 in 3Q’10, while there was only two in the same quarter last year. I think the availability of cheap and mid range Android smartphones played a major role in this rise and it will continue to do so. Several local telecom firms are also working on their Android smartphones, including which recently launched one, Videocon, Karbonn, Olive Telecom, Spice and Lava.
